Government Guidance Clarity on Reopening for Holiday Makers

COVID19 UPDATE – 14th May 2020

Hello dear Guest and future Guests,

We hope that you are keeping safe and well.

The Prime Minister’s TV appearance on Sunday 10th May outlined a high-level, three-step process to easing lockdown measures. Subsequently, the Cabinet Office published the COVID-19 recovery strategy, which added more clarity to the plan and relating specifically to hospitality accommodation reopening, says:

“The Government’s current planning assumption is that this step will be no earlier than 4th July, subject to the five tests justifying some or all of the measures below, and further detailed scientific advice, provided closer to the time, on how far we can go.”

So we have a target date for now – the 4th July.  As we advance towards that date, it remains to be seen whether we will see broader alignment to this date across all nations within the UK, or whether the devolved Governments will set out differing agendas.

It is also clear that this date is conditional and could be amended should the ‘COVID19  Level’ increase, or not drop sufficiently, over the coming weeks.

TOURISM INDUSTRY – RECOVERY & GOVERNMENT SUPPORT
As mentioned in previous communications, our booking partners continue to work within the industry to highlight recommendations to the Government that will help the tourism industry recover from this pandemic.

LATEST – HOLIDAY AMENDMENT DATES

Earlier this week we issued some changes to the dates we’re working to for administration of bookings. In light of the latest clarifications, we are adjusted these slightly to the following:
ACTIVELY CONTACTING BOOKINGS
We will actively cancel/administer all breaks up to 30th June 2020

NO NEW ARRIVALS BEFORE 4th JULY 2020
We will take no new bookings for arrival up to and including 3rd July 2020 (amended from 30th June 2020 in line with Government statement)

JUNE & EARLY JULY ARRIVALS
Customers with arrivals through June and up to and including 3rd July 2020 will have an immediate option to transfer their holiday.

PRICE MATCH PROMISE DATE EXTENSION
We are also extending the Price Match Promise to customers who were due to arrive up to and including the 3rd July 2020, to offer them a chance to re-book their holiday for the same amount (subject to keeping similar period dates and duration).

As always, as we become aware of any further advice, guidance or information, we will be in touch.
