FAQs

Below is a list of our most Frequently Asked Questions. Please contact us if your question is not answered below

1. Where is the nearest Supermarket?

We have a Morrisons superstore close to Bridport only 5 minutes drive from the park which has a fuel station and cash machines.

Alternatively, there is a Waitrose in the centre of town.

2. How far is the park from the beach?

The park is situated just 10-15 minutes walk from the beach. Access to the beach itself is via 20 steps onto shingle.

3. Is there a local Pub?

Yes, we have a local pub located in Lower Eype, The New Inn, just a two minute walk from the park. Well behaved dogs are welcome at the pub which serves good food and is open every day during the season (closed on Mondays during the off season).

We also have the Eypes Mouth Hotel close to the park which has a dog friendly ‘Smugglers Bar’ open to non-residents during the holiday season.

4. Which days are market days in Bridport?

Bridport has a large out-door street market on Saturdays and Wednesdays which has been active in the town centre since 1253.

With crafts, antiques, bric a brac, clothes, household goods and lots of local produce on over 100 stalls there is something for everybody at this famous market.

5. Where is the nearest shop I can buy provisions?

In the village of Eype there are no retail shops. However, there is a small store selling basic provisions at the caravan park close to the beach.

Milk, eggs and newspapers are all available from this store which is only open during the main holiday season.

6. Are there steps down to the beach?

Yes, there are 20 steps leading down to Eype beach.

7. Can I park outside my property?

Yes, all the properties have allocated parking spaces all within 10 metres of your property.

If any extra space is required for a 2nd car for example please let us know at the time of booking as we are able to accommodate limited extra parking spaces.

8. Is the park fenced off and can my dogs run free in the park?

No, the park is open plan and surrounded by hedges which are not ‘dog-proof’. For this reason and for the safety of all our guests we ask that dogs are kept on a lead at all times whilst in the park.

Dogs are able to run free across the local fields and on Eype beach with owner supervision.

9. Is the park accessible if I don’t have a car?

Golden Acre is in a rural area which by definition means it is not easily accessible without a car. It is possible to take a train to Dorchester, a bus to Bridport and then a taxi from Bridport to the park.

However, this journey is only reccomended if you are comfortable with travelling by public transport with your pet and are fully aware of the costs involved.

10. What do I need to bring with me?

We provide quilts (standard doubles) and pillows and ask that you bring your own quilt cover, pillow slips, towels and tea towel. Also your dogs feeding and water bowls.

Travelled as a couple

Booked a few days away over the half term and stayed at Golden Acres. The chalets are small but have every thing you need.

Nice and quiet when we were there and very dog friendly. You do need a torch if you are going out at night as it gets very dark (great to see the stars by) but the New Inn and Eype Country House Hotel are 100 yards in either direction.

However neither were particularly night time places with both closing by 10 pm. They probably open later in the summer when there are more people about. Overall we enjoyed our stay there

Last minute booking for a short break. Our bungalow was crisp and clean with newly refurbished kitchenette and bathroom. Not huge, but plenty of room for us and our two spaniels.

Very welcoming for the dogs with water bowl, dog treats and rug on the sofa. Very short walk to the dog friendly beach and lots of footpaths around the village.

The gounds on site were well kept and there were Dorset eggs to buy from reception.

We found Dorset very welcoming and enjoyed our holiday, would book again.

Crisp and Clean with all we Needed for a Short Break

It was our first trip to Golden Acres, and it won’t be our last. Was perfect for us and our little dog Daisy.

The accommodation was spotlessly clean, and the shower was brilliant. We had a 1 bedroom bungalow, compact but comfortable and had everything we needed.

We chose this park hoping it would be quiet for New Year’s Eve (our dog is terrified of fireworks). We didn’t hear one!

Also was very impressed with the welcome pack, as was Daisy! Will be booking again.
